Village of Round Lake Heights Community Newsletter
September - October 2004

Message from the Mayor

Dear Residents:
I hope everyone enjoyed their Labor Day Holiday. The next event that is upcoming within the Village is the annual Halloween Pig Roast Party. This year we will be having two Pig Roasts, the first one will be on Saturday, October 23, 2004, the next Pig Roast will be held on October 30, 30, 2004. Please see the flier attached.

The water main project is going extremely well we should be completing this project with restoration sometime in the middle of October, once this project is complete we should be able to finish the park on Pontiac Court. The parking lot was recently installed and it will be a great asset to residents that would not be able to walk to the park. Please use this new parking lot for parking and not on village streets. We should be able to put on the finishing touches by the end of October.

On a good note the park district has begun to build the park in Chesapeake Trails. Hopefully the one in Fox Glen subdivision will start soon. That will complete all four parks in the Village of Round Lake Heights.

On a sad note Don Jacobsen has resigned due to employment. Don was a very loyal and dedicated trustee and will be missed by myself and the board. We wish him well.

Village of Round Lake Heights is extremely excited about the new website that is up and running. We are still working on putting the website all together. This is a long process so please be patient, but if you would like to see what we have done please visit us at: www.villageofroundlakeheights.com

If I can be of any assistance or if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at 546-1206 Ext. 302. - - Sincerely, Terry Lumpkins, Mayor

To answer questions posted on the Round Lake Heights Directory
from Mayor Terrance Lumpkins:

· My neighbor has been throwing garbage out in her yard it is old left over food and stuff this will bring rats & mice… what can we do?
- When you notice this, please contact the police department.

· When people come in for their fence permit, they should be advised to make sure that they are not crossing the property line if attaching to a neighbors fence.
- We do require everyone that comes in for a permit to submit their plat of survey.

· Is there a way to post the minutes to the meetings you have every Tuesday on this website for those of us that can’t attend?
- We will be publishing all the minutes on our website soon. Our website is up and running we are still working on putting all of our information on it, but please visit us at: www.villageofroundlakeheights.com

· What are the plans on building more schools in Lake Villa?
- You would have to contact District 41 if you have any questions in regards to Lake Villa Schools, but if they build a school they will probably need a referendum to do so.

· It would save the village money if we asked residents if they would rather have the newsletter emailed to them or put it on the website.
- The newsletter will start being published on the Round Lake Heights webpage.

· Is the village planning to upgrade the tornado system so we can hear the sirens?
- Not at this time but as funds become available we will look into it.

· When will the parks in Fox Glen and Chesapeake be built?
- The parks in both subdivisions will be built when the developers turn over the subdivision to us and then that property will be turned over to the Park District.

· If you know of neighbors doing drugs/selling what do you do? Crime stoppers an option?
- If you suspect your neighbors doing or selling drugs you need to contact Chief Don Johnson or Sgt Roehlk at the Police Department.

· Does the village have any plans to create a useful website?
- It’s good that you ask that because we actually just got our new website up and running, there is still a lot of items that we need to publish but as you can see it is up. Please feel free to check it out: www.villageofroundlakeheights.com

Thank you and if you have any further questions please contact me through our new website at: www.villageofroundlakeheights.com .
